So today I felt a bit like this, melancholy, because yesterday I freaked and started chopping up Siren Suicides because it's my old writing and I don't like my old writing, but then my lovely editor @araenel said the result was "so brief, so clipped, so, that it no longer contains the authenticity of Ailen's perspective, thought processes. The voice of the narrator is now you, not Ailen. The voice of this book is now your CURRENT writing style which is GREAT AND WONDERFUL. But it is not the voice of this book, which I tried so hard to preserve. The opening scene now sounds...sterile." And Sarah is right, so today I read 1/3 of the new book and will read 2/3 in the next 2 days and it will be ready for publishing. And then @dianacw60 said, "I have often heard from authors that they see their body of work as if they were their children. Conceived out of love and birthed after the last word is written. If this is so, then why would you want to change any bit of it. As a mother you accept your child as they are despite the flaws you may see in them. Accept your body of work as it is. Your latest creations will show your growth." And Diana is right too.
YOU SEE WHAT YOU DO. YOU WON'T LET ME MAKE MISTAKES. I LOVE YOU.
