It was minus 23 Celsius in Moscow today. Minus fucking 23!!! And the wind was freezing. And the air had this liquid quality, like you were walking underwater and slicing through this cold like through burning jelly. I got to visit Arbat, the pedestrian street in the historical center of Moscow, and it still had some of the gorgeous New Year decorations, and I got to visit a candy store with ALL THE CANDY OF MY CHILDHOOD IN ONE PLACE. Imagine the restraint I have exercised in not buying everything but only one candy. Yes, I bought one single candy. But it was magnificent. (I eat too much here. Some days I don't think I can eat any more, but somehow I do.)
Plus, a short story on how ridiculous the simplest things in Russia can be, for my Patreon patrons.
