Lots of people know about the T.V. satire, "Portlandia", but do you know about the rich history and diverse, multi-talented landscape that is the independent art scene of Portland, Oregon?
(Moonalice poster 2013, Gary Houston)
As a BFA graduate, a West Coast transplant of the past 20y, and refugee from the traditional art gallery scenes of places such as Chicago, IL and London, England, I have turned my knowledge & vision towards the discovery and elevation of Oregon's most original and virtuoso creative talent.
(Robot Love, Emek X)
From back-alley murals to commercially famous rock posters; from craft gallery exhibitions to skateboard illustrations; from tattoos to PNCA's Time-Based Art Exhibit, Portland has a wealth of creative expression to offer. Let me show you the heart and soul of a city that only an artist who has lived and loved within it truly can.
(Chief's Dream, Jesse Reno)
One month will barely scratch the surface of such an exploration, but it will go a long way towards showing the world what we've been up to out here in the City of Roses... Before gentrification, the housing bubble, and Californication washes this Dream of the '90's back into the Pacific Ocean from whence it came. These artists are still here, still alive, and still working on every day amazement. They need our attention and our love. With its enthusiasm for supporting artist to audience-direct content & open collaborative invitations, I can't think of a better online platform to showcase this topic than Ello.co.
