I have been a professional tattoo artist for a number of years and have been feeling a compulsion to explore a new means of self-expression. By the first few strokes, I found that painting was the missing key that would free my creativity. This quickly grew into an insatiable desire to create exclusively with acrylic and canvas. By juxtaposing notable historical and religious figures in my paintings, I am leaving the viewer with an uncomfortable image to pick apart individually. Fidel Évora was born in Praia, Cape Verde, but raised in Barreiro, Portugal. Here he had his first contact with street art and graffiti. Fidel studied Graphic Design and Motion Graphics but it was in 2011, when he featured in a collective exhibition with his conceptual piece Freedom’s exhumation that Fidel was able to mature his approach as a fine artist.
Keen about ancient artefacts that bring to light important memories that build on today’s collective identity and divided between the antagonistic languages that are urban culture and academic arts, Fidel has been developing his own language by creating either purposely or accidentally forgotten dialogues.

You can call me a "creative". I have worked in TV - entertainment marketing for most of my career. That is where I do stuff like people see in the Richard Scarry Book -"What Do People Do All Day". In this context we call "art", I do things for no "good" reason. Here I play with ideas and how to manifest them. social media is a good place to take work beyond my garage or basement. As of late - I have been working in the clea space of flat graphics that coalesce into various shapes that hopefully bring a little joy or sadness into any viewers life.
