My name is Leila Jinnah, and I am an accessories designer and artist based out of Bushwick Brooklyn. I went to Parsons and am trained in women's RTW design, but my fascination with objects becoming animated in our everyday lives steered me towards accessory design. I'm inspired by my journey as a woman, discovery of sexuality, and finding beauty in awkward places. A lot of this stems from myself being biracial and multicultural, so feeling somewhat like an alien in all contexts. These images are pulled from a larger book titled "DRESSUP". The playful objects that are accessories, interact with the female form in a raw and unedited way. The perspective is direct and somewhat awkward, much like a person getting dressed alone. This work is inspired by the beauty of being an awkward and natural woman, and finding grace and peace within that. All pieces are hand made in New York City.
