Hey, it's Ello! Have some new drone music.
I bought a Moog synthesizer, new in the box, back in April. It was made by hand in a factory in Asheville, NC in October, shipped to the indie music shop I bought from, who in turn shipped it to me the day before Halloween. I'd had a very busy month, and didn't really get to poke at it until this month. It's a keeper for sure, but I'm still in the exploration phase of things.
That's where this track comes in. It's just the Moog, an Alesis Wedge reverb unit I bought fifteen years ago (yikes), over and over. It came together over this past weekend, and though it's not really representative of the kind of stuff I plan on making over the next year, this simple drone that's also overly busy and incessant is actually a pretty great reflection of how I've been feeling over these last few months... but it's only seven minutes long, instead of ten hours long, because I shouldn't overshare.
Walking home in the rain tonight (IN THE COLD NOVEMBER RAIN), the rhythm of my footsteps and the water crackling as it hit the hood of my coat has me thinking I'll be doing a boring minimalist dance track next. If it's not terrible, I might even put it on Soundcloud. I'm going to make a real effort this coming winter to move past experimenting and focus on songwriting again.
Thanks for reading & listening. See you 'round the other social networks.
