Last weekend, Myvanwy and I accompanied a group of friends for a stay in Islay. Along with a visit to the Kilchomen and Caol Ila distilleries, we also stopped off at the Islay Woolen Mill. The mill is a supplier of tweed for European fashion houses and is also a frequent source of material for costume makers in the film industry.
The warping creel. Yarn that will make up the warp of the cloth is mounted here and wound onto a single spindle before being taken to the loom.
