The hot summer breeze of the St. Louis night breathes its last gusts into the mausoleum as the door closes behind me.
All of the artifacts reveal themselves again: the gun, the head, the flags - and with them, my body, a floor above the elder.
I kneel before the ravaged corpse.
There is a banging on the door.
I turn around, standing, and open the door.
"How did you get here?" I ask, finding Pink standing on the other side.
"I followed you." she says. "All the way back. I have always been following you."
"Time travel." she says.
"You... have the code?"
"I have had it all along."
She smiles, handing it to me.
"It is good you are here." I say. "In fact, it is absolutely necessary."
