One of the biggest complaints I've heard about natural deodorants is that "they don't work" when it comes to preventing sweat and odor. First, what works best for one person may not work as well for another, every body is different! However, it's important to keep a few things in mind.
First, sweating is a natural detoxification process - embrace it! Deodorant is not always an anti-perspirant, those words are two different things, but may be combined in one product. An anti-perspirant works by clogging your sweat ducts with aluminum (a metal that crosses the blood-brain barrier, stores in the body, and is linked to Alzheimer's and some cancers) whereas a deodorant is designed to combat odor, but not prevent sweat.
Also, odor can be caused by many things, and can be worsened by your diet, hormonal imbalance, and disease (yes, your body emits different scents when you are sick or have a disease, isn't that fascinating?). Yes, the bacteria in your underarm area cause odor, but it can be worsened or improved by other factors. When switching to natural deodorant, people may be surprised by how different they smell and feel. An adjustment period of a month or two is normal, as it is with any other skincare regimen or diet change. You may not get the results you desire right away!
You can try applying clay masks to your underarms to help cleanse the area, and may need more frequent washes or deodorant applications when starting a new product regimen.
Personally, my switch was easy and effective. Many deodorants irritated my skin, and the burning sensation they had was worse than going without product. I made my own, and then reformulated my product to get this blend here. I love how creamy this is 🙌🏻 It's firmer when the air is cooler, but it's the perfect consistency in this weather. I currently offer this in my Libra scent, but will offer another blend this summer! I make this one with #organic coconut oil, plant powders and clay, and more natural ingredients. This scent lasts for hours, and prevents odor without clogging sweat ducts. I'm going to offer another herbal blend this summer, let me know if there's anything you'd like to see! #librasgarden #organicbeauty #greenbeauty #greenskincare #naturalskincare #crueltyfree #ethical #crueltyfreeskincare #naturalbeauty #handmade
