As I tend to switch ideas frequently through the process of deciding my topic, I knew that I wanted to incorporate something with mindfulness or empathy. Especially in the this problematic political climate, I have noticed a decay in which people treat each other. It less about helping each other and more about being correct, regardless if all of the facts are known. I am not regarding one party in particular, but both. I believe that having empathy is an essential for living a moral life. Putting oneself in someone else's shoes to understand where their perspective comes from and allowing oneself to feel what they feel is how reasonable compromise is made. I am visually depicting the decay of empathy by using primary and secondary colors. The red and blue distinguish the individuals, but the purple connects them together. As the purple fades away, so does there figure that makes them recognizable as a human. Empathy is a significant element that makes us who we are. Without this ability to connect with each other, we only have ourselves.
