I have been pretty set with my idea for the Desire Project on 'wanting what I can't have' and focusing on the aspect of time. For instance, wanting to relive a certain memory or wanting to handle things differently than you actually did. Upon studying for my psychology next week, I came across the section that covers pseudoscience and was fascinated with its examples to astrology and why some peopler react the way they do to their signs. I have always had a general idea of why individuals rely on their signs to someone categorize and define themselves, however reading about the specific logistics increased my interest more.
In the textbook states "These results may help to explain why so many of us believe in astrology, ESP, and other belief systems that claim to foretell the future: they lend us a sense of control over the uncontrollable". In a way the phrase "control over the uncontrollable" is what inspired myself to use time as my way of exemplifying this desire, but now I am feeling inclined to use astrology. My sign recently changed from Virgo and Leo upon the 'new' sign that astrologists found. I feel odd that something I identified most with now changed. It brings into light the thought of controlling what I can't control.
