Who Am I?
From a young age, I had a passion for anything creative. As a small child I was exposed to the business world early on as my family ran a small business with tremendous pride. Even later on encouraging me to get a business license at the age of 16.
I discovered my passion for art and illustration at the age of 14 and it continued to grow rapidly, leading to me advancing on to college with scholarships for my work. Coker College is where I first got my feet wet in graphic design and I've been hooked ever since. Leading me to branch out into the freelance world to share my talents.
My inspiration for my creativity spawns from my many struggles in life. All of my work represents an event or challenge I go through in life. My earlier works are an expression of my suffering with Bulimia and Anorexia through my High School Years. My College works are an expression of my coping with the natural and healthy aspect of sex and overcoming my fear of the subject.
My more recent works are an expression of me coming to terms with my diagnoses of Fibromyalgia, Celiac Disease, OCD, and Anxiety Disorder. I find great interest in my emotional, mental and physical layers and how each evolves from the other to form my experiences. I’m interested by what layers I choose to reveal or conceal. I turn these observations into visual experiences through my use of color, tonal variation, juxtaposition of textures and layer application. My titles hint towards my own personal meaning or experience in the piece and it is my hope that each work will spark a personal feeling or experience in the viewer.
