When I let go of what I am, I become what I might be. When I let go of what I have, I receive what I need.
~Tao Te Ching
This is nigella damascena, otherwise known as love-in-a-mist. They are my very favorite flowers. The one in the foreground has progressed to the seedpod stage. It has let go of what it was (flower) to become what it might be (seedpod, and beyond)... soon, it will dry and then burst, dropping seeds, and fulfilling the second part of the quote: it will let go of what it has, and receive what it needs (a chance to create new life, so there will be more of its kind in the future). Quite lovely, the entire cycle, if not somewhat heartbreaking in places to a sensitive soul. The promise of renewal to come is uplifting.
This is, however, perhaps more difficult to actually do than to ponder upon - trust and absolute acceptance are a huge part of this equation.
Will you let go to become and receive?
I've posted about these flowers before.
