The Trickster Diaries/Chapter 116
What Jan failed to tell me about Sybil was that she spoke six languages with fluency and was a former opera singer. The “discriminating and principled” part I picked up on during our first meeting, and through the course of her winter/spring visits and our friendship over five sometimes delightful, sometimes uneasy years.
What was completely unpredictable, borderline magical, was her depth of understanding on the subject of lying.
On a wildly different level, I never foresaw her springing for the mini-split A/C unit in exchange for 36 months trailer rent.
Never even occurred to me.
So, that problem resolved, I was now free to go back to my novel.
