But there was some seriously decent stuff here, on Ello. And some dead ends too, of course. I mean, there was so much post punk, post glam, subcutaneous attitude going on on the one end, so much pretty landscape photography on the other, so much crappy impressionist or surrealist plagarism in the middle…
Then, just two or three days into it, something unique occurred. A pastel-ish self portrait avatar framed like mine, a head shot, only looking the other way, and a strikingly similar profile in its to-the-point, one word construction. Her profile included a strange, koan-esque quote. So I checked her out.
GIFs. All b&w. All from older, mostly obscure films, far as I could tell. I scrolled down a dozen or so and instead of a GIF there was a question: “Does anybody know of a good internet station for Chill?”
I wrote: “Try SomaFM.com. Groove Salad.”
“Thank you very kindly,” she replied.
Then another “Ding.” She’d begun following me.
So I followed her back.
