The village was built in the 1800s by industrialist Titus Salt who created homes and a whole community around his spinning mill - Salts Mill. He was motivated to do so after finding bales of alpaca fibre in a dockside warehouse. It is now an important heritage site and a fantastic place to visit. The coffee is great too :) @elloyarn @elloknitting #knitting #yarn #sockknitting @sockknitter #saltaire There is a great site about it here http://www.saltairevillage.infohttp://www.saltairevillage.info
