Julia Kwon creates traditional and hybrid Korean textiles through quilting and painting to challenge preexisting notions of what it means to be Korean and feminine. She also explores community and personal relationship building through collaborative projects. Julia has earned her M.F.A. at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts/Tufts University and B.A. in Studio Art at Georgetown University. She has been actively exhibiting her work and won various awards such as the artist residency at Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity, Vermont Studio Center, NARS Foundation, and Textile Arts Center.

My yarn stash is pretty much larger than it should be.
I create modern, heirloom quality quilts. My quilts typically include bold use of color combined with negative space and interesting layouts.
