We are in the midst of building some great new features, but nothing is launching quite yet. Today will mostly be a recap of recent events.
Arkitip x Ello Community Winners
The @arkitipxello Juried Art Exhibition was a huge success. The jury is still selecting the 40 winners that will be published in the magazine, but Ello has spoken and has chosen the 4 community winners. Their submissions were the most-loved by the Ello community and each will receive a $500 arts grant.
Hire Me & Buy Buttons
As the Creators Network, we want to empower you to make a living doing what you love. We recently launched the first two features to help support creators. The Hire Me Button tells potential clients you’re available for work and gives them an easy way to contact you privately.
The Buy Button allows you to link an image directly to a product listing. Anyone browsing Ello will know that when they see the green $ icon, something awesome is for sale. All it takes is a click on the icon, and they’ll be taken to the product listing on the seller’s site.
You can now create/edit posts with Buy Buttons on iOS as well.
New Category: Digital
Last week we launched a new category, Digital.
The Digital category presents a variety of art created or modified digitally with the essential tool of the creation process being technology. This includes work, such as generative, glitch and fractal art that could not be created without a computer. Art created in whole or in part with the use of an autonomous system.

What are we working on?
Currently we have a handful of features/improvements in development. We just submitted a new iOS build to the app store that loads profiles in an entirely new way, making the app feel a lot faster. The Hire Me button is also coming to iOS soon.
We are completely overhauling our onboarding process on all platforms. While not the most exciting thing for all of you folks with existing accounts, it will help newbies find the things they care about. It is also a starting point for following categories, which will be great for new and old Ello’ers alike.
Last but not least, we are working on a feature to help facilitate conversations via comments. Very soon you will be able to “watch” a post and get notified when there is a new comment. If it gets noisy you can always “unwatch.”
