Did I ever tell you all what A Year Without Clothes was? I can't remember and I'm too lazy to go look.
Well... I used to live in a fancy studio / loft in downtown Los Angeles with this AMAZING woman named Sylva. She is without a doubt the most talented, creative, caring human being I've ever met and to top it off she's fucking gorgeous. After a handful of photo shoots with her and some exceptionally good timing I wound up living in her amazing studio with her and her critters.
We were always shooting photos just for the hell of it but one day after I'd lived there quite a while she told me about her idea to do a 365 project where there were two photos of her every day, one clothed and one nude. Since we lived together it seemed like the perfect chance to do it.
Towards the end of February 2012 we got started and it was amazing! You'll notice I use the word amazing a lot when I talk about Sylva:) Anyway, it was as fun, exciting, creative, frustrating and tiring as you can imagine. All was going well with the project but then I went and screwed it up by moving out. In hindsight this was an utterly stupid thing to do but living in a giant box with all of the noise and insanity that comes with DTLA got to me. It had already been getting to me but then I got a very nice, house all to myself out in the suburbs offered to me by a friend who was going to be working out of the country for 6 months and I jumped on it.
That put things on hold for a minute. More like a month actually. And it was painfully clear that we couldn't do the daily thing with me shooting all of the photos so it was decided that Sylva was going to expand her already awesome set of skills by doing self portraits when I wasn't available.
When all was said and done we had actually posted photos on around 300 days out of the year and those were split pretty evenly between mine and Sylva's photography.
I'm pretty sure I'd never try such a thing with anyone else ever again. But if Sylva wanted to shack up somewhere a little quieter than DTLA and do it again I'd probably jump at the chance.
So there ya go! If you ever have some time to kill you should go back and look at the blog.
