It's a little after 5AM and I'm still awake. If I were in Pensacola this is about the time I would head towards the beach to take a nice long walk as the sun came up. But I'm not, so I won't. Instead I'll just jump in bed and try to make myself sleep.
I shot this video on June 1st, 2010 just a day or two before "tar balls" from the BP oil spill started washing up on the sand. It was another few weeks before the worst part of it hit the panhandle of Florida. Luckily we weren't hit nearly as bad as they were just a handful of miles down the coast in Alabama and Mississippi. It still sucked to see the perfect white sand there marked by a brown line of sludge running down the beach as far as you could see. Maybe I'll dig up some of those pictures when I wake up.
