I crave you like I crave autumn.
For crunching leaves and crushing lips,
for petrichor and our clothes on the floor.
Tangled in a heap just like us in the sheets.
Locked lips and loaded lungs,
ragged breathing rolling off our tongues
as you trace my geography with trembling hands.
Traveling along my skin,
you wander the shoreline of my lips,
marking the shore with indents of your fingertips.
Wave after wave of words unspoken
thrash on the tip of my tongue.
Won’t you save me?
You’re as silent as the leaves changing colour.
We’re nothing but stubborn seas,
colliding in these sheets.
You’re drowning me.
Do you ever find it strange?
How the leaves look prettiest when they’re about to die.
I’m afraid I’ll forget the colour of your eyes,
and you’ll soon forget mine.
Yet I’ll still be waiting for the fall.
