I want you to pretend this is a poem.
I want us to sit by a lake, surrounded by wooden planks and leaves and water (you get the idea), and talk things out.
I want to sip-chug wine out of a fat glass and look out at the horizon with stars in my eyes
I want to want what's beyond it, what time will bring.
I want you to turn and tell me a joke, say something that makes me smile, I want to feel that smile deep
in my gut, feel it coming up through my lips and leaving my body like a golden sigh
Then I want you to stand up, walk stonefaced and silent
Right into the water.
I want to watch you wait
for me to save you, wait
for the water to make its way into your lungs until you choke, gasp, scream
maybe I'll even ask you to keep it down, if I think you're being too loud.
I want to intertwine my long, elegant fingers around your throat as you sink and twist I want
to watch you leave this world and never come back.
And then I want to join you.
