I Looked In The Mirror
I looked in the mirror and what did I see?
A girl with eyes that match my own staring back at me.
I could spend all of this time picking apart every flaw,
Like the blotchy few pimples aligned on my jaw.
I could point out how my nose is too this, or too that-
Or maybe how my arms are getting a bit too fat.
I could dream how I want my hair to be more curly
& to be so beautiful I'm mistaken as other worldly.
I could wish that I dressed in a different style,
Or find something off about my smile.
Or rather, I could remember to love myself.
I could recall how I try my best to have a positive attitude,
& how to enjoy each day with a sense of gratitude.
I could appreciate my strong legs- they always take me where I need to be,
& how all of my traits make me- me.
I could love how my eyes change from blue to greens,
& how all women are beautiful queens.
Now, I see how much I love the hues of my heart's caring shade
& how beauty on the inside will truly never fade.
