Aman Resorts just landed in Tokyo
19 November of 2014
Tokyo is the capital of Japan, the center of the Greater Tokyo Area, and the most populous metropolitan area in the world. A city with a population of 13.3 million, that Aman Resorts chose to launch its first city hotel, the 27th hotel in its portfolio. As Aman’s first urban property, Aman Tokyo reflects the city’s cosmopolitan personality and Japanese soul. The 84 Rooms and Suites of the new hotel occupy the top six floors of the recently-built Otemachi Tower. Accommodation options range from the 71 sq.m. Deluxe Rooms – the largest entry-level rooms in the city, facing the Imperial Palace Gardens, each offering a combined bedroom and living area that is furnished with a king-sized bed or twin beds, lounge chairs, a day bed, table and over sized writing desk – up to the 157 sq.m. Aman Suites, that provide a separate bedroom, living room and dining room, complete with a pantry and located in the northwest corner of the building, offering views of the Imperial Palace Gardens and the Tokyo Skytree. The unique interiors, including the Aman Spa with a rather glorious 30-metre pool, eight treatment rooms, a fitness center, a yoga and Pilates studio, changing facilities with steam rooms and “traditional Japanese hot baths”, are designed by the international firm Kerry Hill Architects and they pay homage to the local setting, with a serene natural palette of camphor wood and stone, complimented with contemporary Japanese textiles.
