Mashfik Shamir - "Photographs open doors into the past, but they also allow a look into the future."
I didn't decide to be a photographer; I just happened to fall into it. I dream that someday the step between my mind and my finger will no longer be needed. And that simply by blinking my eyes, I shall make pictures. Then, I think, I shall really have become a photographer.
Photography can only represent the present. Once photographed, the subject becomes part of the past. I do have my own personal convictions and values, and I live by those. But as an artist, as a portrait photographer, my job is to tell the truth and to capture someone's spirit on a certain day.
