No one exactly knows what Ello is, but it seems to me that Ello is more for discussing things than for pointing to discussions of things elsewhere. Twitter is excellent for pointing, and the world only needs so much pointing. So I don't Ello links to my @bloombergview posts, though I do tweet them, and I feel like that's largely the norm for Finance Ello. On the other hand, sometimes I tweet links to my Ellos. As someone (@guan?) has said, Twitter is the consolidated feed.
This seems like a nice feature of Ello, even if what is discussed is often (as here) Ello. It does make it challenging for social media editors, which is also maybe a nice feature. Hopefully @weisenthal's new Finance Ello editor will be sensitive to these questions.
[Update: One obvious reason that Ello is bad for pointing is that nobody's on Ello except financial bloggers, which is a small subset of Finance Twitter. So Elloing links can't really get you any measurable traffic.]
