4 1/2 feet long
I've shown this piece in two different gallery shows now. I've gotten various reactions. Some people tell you what they thinking looking at my face, waiting for my reaction, waiting to see if they're interpretation is right or wrong. But every time I love that different people give me different interpretations. I'm not looking for someone to magically guess what I was thinking or going through when I make. My aim is to make you feel something.
But if you're curious where I'm coming from... I feel a lot of anxiety and my feelings in my stomach. When get nervous sometimes I want to puke. When I see someone I like I feel a heavy lightness, I don't think they're quite butterflies. When I'm about to be in an exhibit my stomach is in pain until I get to the reception and see my work fully displayed. I just think it's amazing that all these things I feel from my brain become so physical.
There are many other underlying themes and motifs to this work and its relation to the other sculptures in my body of work "Suppressions." I will be posting more from this body of work soon.
