Good Morning Children,
it's still very early, and I suspect you're all in bed, but this is close to my usual hour of waking and I am unable to fall back asleep. I'm trying to wait a couple of hours before succumbing to the lure of my morning tea so I can drink it with my husband who is, happily, still asleep. I've been reading my more than yearly guilty pleasure books lately, along with the new Neil Gaiman and some Sherlock Holmes. It's so easy to keep entertained with a decent home library don't you think?
During the week, when I start work in the dark, and tend to see the sunrise through a window, I long to be not-working so I could be moving about as I chose able to see the sunrise from other places and catch its beauty with my little camera. But on the weekends I find it so very difficult to drag myself from this warm bed and dress and then to face venturing out into the world to go and find those longed for vistas. I'd so much rather stay here with a good book or my computer. Right now I am reminding myself that I still have three hours till sunrise and perhaps I'll find my motivation before then.
This past week has been one woeful misadventure after another for your old Auntie Mephit. Honestly, so much went wrong this week, it's been quite trying. Yesterday I arrived home from work to a terrible smell in the house, like burning rubber, it turned out to be the furnace. Some sort of chamber collapsed inside the ancient beasty and the tradesman was here for over 3 hours. He was only able to clean the furnace and remove the broken bits of debris. He'll be back at some point with the new chamber and there will be more billable hours for his replacing it. He could give us no estimate so I came up with my own. At $75/hour and finding a range for these chambers from under $100 to over $200 we are currently at about $500 on the high side with unknown hours of work yet to come. I could also be wildly off on the chamber because the furnace itself is so ancient. I told my very stressed out husband I will take more hours at work to cover the cost. I am lucky that I can do so. I work very limited hours to accommodate my children's schedules so it isn't hard to find time on breaks and in the summer to work longer shifts or cover for other's.
And that is enough rambling from your old Auntie. Take care children and do wash your hands frequently. There are confirmed cases of flu out there just now and it can turn very, very serious. Be safe, my dears.
