Good Morning Children,
Auntie Mephit has been awfully busy lately trying to get her life in order but I've missed you all. Since leaving my last job I've been decluttering, reading, planning a Call of Cthulhu run, running "Kobolds Ate my Baby!" for the family and so on and on and on.
I may have mentioned a very nice little service before, paperbackswap.com, so let me tell you how I got to use it recently. I wanted to get a set of books for a friend of mine and was planning to hit my local used bookshop when it occurred to me that I have a lot of book credits at PBS. Also the books I wanted to send were first published in the late 90s so are just the sort of thing one can snag at PBS with no wait required. Sure enough there were plenty of copies to be had so I ordered them. Oddly one book cam soaking wet with a sticker on it saying something like "received in this condition" ... ... ... sure, I am sure the person who mailed it just dipped it in a bucket of rain water before sending it. Anyway, I've spent the past week drying it out because I'm stubborn and refuse to throw away a copy of one of my favorite books without a fight. It's coming along alright, not quite dry yet near the spine, and I'm sure it will never be quite right, but I'll just send Bec my old copy and keep this one. I don't mind a book with a bit of character.
Oh! And it's my birthday soon and I'll be even Older. It's a big one, I'm turning 50. So I've rented a bouncy castle and we're having an ice cream sundae bar and live music etc etc. It should be a lot of fun! I'm lucky in that some of my friends are quite musically talented and have agreed to perform. I told everyone they can come in costume or fancy dress or whatever they like. Shoot, I need to order a cake still. I need to get that on my list. Still so much to do.
The gaming room has been seeing some use. It's pretty well finished and now everyone uses it both for gaming and game prep. I think my husband has been using it as a quiet spot to do homework as well. It's quite comfy and the Cthulhu corner ought to add just the right vibe for my upcoming run. I can hardly wait except that there is still so much to do. I'm almost finished reading the rulebook though!
