Did you guys know the holidays are supposed to be super stressful? American Thanksgiving is coming up in a couple of weeks and apparently people are stressed out about all the work they have to do for it. I'm looking ahead and thinking I need a plan so I tackle things ahead that can be done ahead and a plan for that day so things are ready pretty much at the same time so we can sit and eat in a civilized manner. I make these plans every year, it's not that hard. I prepare and cook certain things a day or two ahead, adjust cooking times so things can all cook at the same temp, I use a list to coordinate it all, I've even done this without the use of a timer just using the wall clock. I find I have a decent amount of leisure time on Thanksgiving because I make sure people help with clean up and I don't cook dinner the night before. I used to stress about it but a plan is all that I need to have a stress free day.
Christmas is supposed to be stressful too with all the purchasing and wrapping and decorating and cooking but I also don't find it has to be stressful. A cooking plan for the big dinner works wonders and I keep a notebook where I write down all the stocking stuffers and presents for my family to make sure I'm not neglecting anyone. Decorating is fun! If things seems stressful I just don't do those things. Who cares what people expect us to do? Do what is good and feels relaxing and fun for the holidays. It will be ok!
