Create the Things You Wish Existed
This is an excellent notion but it can be difficult to accomplish depending on what you wish was a thing out there in The World. Some people wish there were hats made out of old books, tricky but doable. Some people wish for Dragons or Unicorns to be real, an awfully tall order. It's still good advice. In my little family this is how we try to live our lives. We just have to be ok with stumbling along the way, mistakes and epic failure. For instance my son wanted to be a walking fortress for Halloween last year so materials were gathered and he set about trying to construct various pieces. He got most of the way through the torso parts, it was a sort of a vest of castle-like construction, had crenelations and he'd even painted on the stonewall texture to get a feel for what it would look like. With Halloween rapidly approaching he called it a failure because even though it looked ok it: A) wasn't up to his standards and, B) was never going to be ready in time because he had to both sleep and go to school. I still have the pieces.
I had an idea in my head for clothes I wished could be but don't exist so I'm working on that right now. It's very cool, frustrating, daunting, exciting, fun, and makes me smile. I might be the only one enamored of my art but at least it makes me happy. I'm also writing, well, outlining, a story I wish existed and constantly creating meals I wish existed. ^_^
Run out there and CREATE, children, the worst it can do is suck, and you don't have to show it to anyone if you don't want to.
