Whew, my daughter is getting married this weekend and it's a real clusterfck of having to see a whole shtload of relatives on the Dad's side that I don't want to deal with. Ah, family hahahhahaaha :3
I'm really pleased for her and her husband-to-be, and I'm sure it'll be beautiful, but this whole big church wedding thing is so outside my side of the family's way of doing things, and just trying to hold still while everyone rushes around squeaking about caterers and florists and dresses and the reception dinner is nuts.
They've got over three hundred effing people invited to the reception and they've been taking things over and setting up for days now. Most of the decorating and so forth is being done by the family.
I said two things...
"Wow, that's a huge crowd, any of y'all ever hosted something this size before?"
I also said "So y'all have been setting up for days, how long do you have the site after the reception, who do you have assigned for the cleanup afterward?"
They only have the site until midnight of the night of the reception (Friday), the site has another thing scheduled for Saturday, and when I asked who was doing the cleanup, I got told uhhhhhhhh.....
I ain't doing it. ;) LOVE my children but some life lessons you have to learn yourself.
THREE HUNDRED BLINKING PEOPLE....whew, it's going to be crazy. As soon as the cake is cut I'm getting the hell out.
My side of the family ALWAYS does small intimate weddings...for good reason.
