My name is Mila Gajic and I am Art + Technology student at the University of Florida in Gainesville. I come from Bosnia and Herzegovina. My main interest are digital art and 2D animation where I incorporate mostly human figures and surrealistic styles such as combining different creatures into one. In my rotoscope animations, I sometimes incorporate scenes or people from music videos I like, such as those of Alan Walker and Kiesza contained within the 2 gifs I submitted. In my artworks, I explore the relationship between figure and space and their concept. I am also interested in the representation of human figure and miniature. In order to convey my ideas, I use variety of media and processes like drawing, photography, painting and digital art. My works contain either something meaningful to me or something I would like to have. I get my ideas from personal experiences and impressions rather than just observation. My ideas are represented abstractly, and my audience has to engage and think deeper about the artwork in order to understand what is being explored and communicated. I analyze my own work to see how I could incorporate other materials or form new, similar ideas in order to bring my artworks to another level.I want my audience to recognize what the theme of my work is, but not necessarily to interpret it in the same way as I do. That is because different things mean differently to all of us and I do not wish to change that. While incorporating influences from my personal experiences, ideas as well as influences of other artists and my friends, I create artworks that collectively tell a certain story or convey an opinion. Viewers’ roles are to engage in exploration of concepts represented in my work and to interpret them in their own, unique ways. Conveying a message in my artwork is not done just by technique, but by color, shape, medium, size and every aspect used and represented. I illustrated two books before coming to college and my works featured as a basis for chaper of Cambridge University Press 2017 textbook for IB Visual Arts.
