And here, this is John, the (anti)hero and narrator of the "Green Eyes." He falls in love with Alex, and will be hard-pressed to secure the happy ending that an M/M romance absolutely requires. He succeeds serendipitously, though.
Yes, serendipitously, since Alex has almost succeeded committing suicide, woken up with serious amnesia, and no longer remembers his sexual orientation. Fortunately, he appears convinced that his felo-de-se succeeded, and that he has entered heaven already. And on this basis, we have the following brief exchange between the two:
“You know what I mean. Why should you love me?” (John asks).
“Because, John, you are unique among us angels. You are the only angel who needs my love. Who wants it. Why shouldn’t I love you back? We’re in heaven together. Wishes are fulfilled in here.”
“I didn’t know.”
“Now you do,” he says and rolls his head.
And from there on, it's only 2 minutes to the perfect happy ending.

It's really a feel-good thing. You sleep better after you read it!
