Day 3 of @joannehawker #marchmeetthemaker
How you started. I always knew I wanted a handmade business but it took me years to get to where I am. Midnight Jo was a name my Dad came up with when I first started (my middle name is Jo and I've always been a night owl).
I started selling on Etsy with hand sewn and silkscreened items. I sold my first item on Etsy in 2008.
A couple years later my friend visited and wanted to make a coin ring for her boyfriend. The type of coin ring where you hit the edge FOREVER then drill out the center. Well. We failed miserably. Then looking at coin rings online I found what I call "double sided coin rings". I sold my first coin ring in 2012 and my first spoon ring in 2014. While I made them differently and much more imperfectly then than I do now, I still find handmade charm in my original imperfect rings!
So the current Midnight Jo was born out of failure. If at first you don't succeed, try, try again ❤
