This series talks about self-awareness and acceptance, as a woman, as a human being. I have always had problems with my feminity as I didn’t identify myself with the stereotypical figure of a woman. And because of that, I have spent most of my life thinking I wasn’t "woman" enough. I have a degree in mechanical engineering, and I spent a lot of my teenage and young adult years hanging out with the guys. That didn't help either. When I finished my studies I felt like something was missing and that that wasn't my path. After some years traveling and working on my personal development, I discovered photography and through art, I finally connected with my feminine side. I think it’s really nice that nowadays there is a lot of change in the genre codes and that every day more, woman are freeing themselves from stereotypes and realizing that nobody is to tell you what being a woman is. <3
Hi, I’m Mila Ivke. I am a self-taught fine art photographer. And I use photo manipulation and compositing to turn the scenes that I see in my imagination into something real, touchable. My work is surreal and dreamlike because it comes from the exploration of the subconscious and the soul. I use creation as a form of meditation, to battle self-doubt and unconscious fear, and to find meaning and inner peace.
