Artists Statement 2019
A visual language that is deeply honest, has alluded me until now. It’s finding is in the letting go and giving up all expectation and influence. To allow the element of surprise to flood the blank space, onto which, a series of serendipitous decisions can be made. There is a losing and gaining with this approach, style and technique are abandoned to convention. I desire to be responsive as if a dancer throwing shapes as he feels the music.
I have little interest in a meaning for the artwork and whilst I'm very aware that any script or talk about art is a contradiction, it seems a necessity within society to do so, for my part its more about income and livelihood.
Ideas come from things that I read, experiences I appear to have and images that catch the eye, they're all rather personal and often jumbled. To me all art is image remade whether that is referenced from a physical or emotional plane or a combination of both, it matters not. My desire to convey a message is collateral and not my intention. I miss out Monday in that respect.
I try to express a pleasing image. I create to communicate with myself. I create because it is a happy thing to do. For me it's purely aesthetic, anything else is circumstantial.
