I've been trying to learn shaders for a while now, but the concepts have been hard for me to grasp. Big thanks to @praystation and @echophon for some tips to head in the right direction. Here's a displacement vertex shader that deforms vertices based on the brightness of the texture's color on each vertex. This is a super fine mesh with the Ello logo mapped onto it
I 'borrowed' the GIF above by the gifted* @cacheflowe as a temporary header and profile picture for the @motionarts community I have just set up.
If anyone has an alternative to offer, I am all eyes*.
