Happy Indigenous Peoples' Day.
So this is a thing now? Yeah.
The idea offends some people, but that's not my intent. I'm here to create positivity that's based in our fantastic reality. That's in contrast to the negativity in the fantasy world we like to tell ourselves about. You see, one of the things I've learned from working in the video game industry for over a decade is that people love to escape from reality. They see the true world as this sad and evil place that needs to be dodged or covered up just so they can smile in the morning. It doesn't have to be that way.
We have this reality, and it is a great one when we work to make it so. While we each have our own views, we don't have to lie to ourselves about those views to feel better. Just realize and accept that the world is what it is. Many of our ills are brought about by our outlook on life. We hide from realities that might seem overwhelming and harsh, but we don't have to when we learn how to look at things through better lens. Most of us are taught to look at things in a bad way.
I propose that we embrace a transformation of perspective to a positive reality. And I'm not talking about just blissfully ignoring issues, that leads to other problems. I'm talking about accepting the personal growth required to view the world through your unique eyes. It's not easy, and I constantly find difficulties with it myself. It's even more difficult because the power of social media is in our hands, and we're really not good at positive discussion yet. At some point way before telephones, we might have been good at it, but that's long gone. Social media is reflecting what we think is important, so let's start selling ourselves the better things in life. I'll keep trying as well. I have a feeling there are some indigenous powers we are just beginning to tap into.
Now go discover something new.
