Following this interaction, Satyapriyan TV has blocked me on #twitter. I made him look bad with this response to his now deleted tweet reading "Listen. I block Hindu terrorist sympathizers." All other tweets appear intact as of now (10:30 am, IST 01-08-2015).
#Satyapriyan has made some indirect allegations on me and however stupid or illogical they might be, there are readers on his TL that may be misled. I need to finish saying what I was pointing to him before he deliberately went tangential to protect his agenda. I do it here.
My point was that Yakub Memon's and say Maya Kodnani's cases are fundamentally different and must be treated as such by any court of justice. The parallels are simply not sufficient to say that they are similar cases warranting same punishment for same reasoning.
Key Similarities between the two:
- Both incidents were products of as well as exacerbated Hindu-Muslim tensions in #India.
- Number of casualties is somewhat comparable.
#YakubMemon carried out a preplanned #terrorist attack with months, if not years of planning behind it; while Maya Kodnani led a justifiably angry mob of communally charged people just one day after the instigating event (#Godhra train burning, which in itself was found to be a preplanned conspiracy by court of law, the objective of this planning can only be to instigate communal riots).
- Yakub Memon & co used sophisticated bombs and equipment (RDX & grenades to make vehicle bombs, etc). Maya Kodnani & co used crude domestic items (LPG cylinders, to make fire pits).
- The plan Yakub Memon & co executed was an ISI plot. He was a tool of foreign powers attempting to damage India. By contrast, Maya Kodnani's act was an unplanned extremist riot & leading other extremists of a visibly hurt majority population.
These points can be verified from any neutral source with comprehensive coverage. Wikipedia is a good place to start and supreme court's full text of judgments for the two cases are authoritative.
Kindly note that I am not supporting any Hindu or Muslim terrorists (as #Satyapriyantv has foolishly insinuated). I am just highlighting details which our self-styled secular media is deliberately downplaying, it appears, to stoke Hindu-Muslim communal hatred once again.
