Gordon H. Nagai is an American born in California who was imprisoned at Amache, a Japanese American internment camp in Granada, Colorado, along with his family during WWII under Executive Order 9066.
Gordon spoke about his experiences to grade school students during the 1990s and 2000s. In 2008, he adapted his speech for adult audiences and now speaks throughout Oregon to all sorts of groups. To reach an even wider audience, he recorded and uploaded this presentation to YouTube in 2017. Gordon hopes his message, along with other internees' stories, help our nation avoid another tragic blunder under the current political climate of fear.
Gordon continuously updates his speech including current political references and newly-remembered anecdotes so this video captures a work in progress at a moment in time. He encourages you to find out where he's speaking next to hear what he's saying today.
If your class, company, or other group would like to host a presentation for 20 or more attendees, get in touch.
Thank you for watching.
P.S. Gordon does not know and has not met Mr. George Takei but would certainly like to do so. (His children did not write this sentence.)
Videography and editing by Diana Nagai.
