Back in 1987, the nation had Tiger Beat magazine on the brain. This malady of the synapses caused the world to focus on "The Lost Boys" rather than "Near Dark", which wen altogether unnoticed. It's a shame because it is a far superior film. It is a modern western vampire film that borrows aspects from Jean Rollin's 1986 French vampire film "Le Viol du Vampire" and is dramatically tense with great action sequences. "Near Dark also boasts an impressive cast of Lance Henriksen, Bill Paxton, Tim Thomerson, Jenette Goldstein, and Adrian Pasdar. All that "The Lost Boys" could offer is only Two Corey's and the lamer half of Bill & Ted.
