GAUTING INTERNATIONAL PHOTO WEEK: Exhibition - The Palestinian photographer Fadwa Rouhana grew up in a place shattered by hurdles and injustices. For her, it became an existential necessity to combine her photographic art with the reality that had always alienated and alienated her, as a woman and as a human being.
The photo series is inspired by the pilgrims who visit the holy sites in Bethlehem and Jerusalem - who come from all over the world and carry with them their memories, their dreams, their sorrows, their pains and their hope for salvation.
Rouhana shows in her works the collective subconscious of man, the memory, the invisible in the human soul and a phase of transition in the footsteps of time. Photography gives her the opportunity to contemplate life and its meaning, to explore human living conditions, people's hopes and sufferings, their relationship to their environment and their past.
In 2019 she was awarded the 1st Prize and the Gold Star Prize of the ND Awards in the category Fine Art - Conceptual.
