Maria Paredes (@mariaparedes)
Maria Paredes is an emerging artist from Los Angeles. She is a graduate of the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, and also studied at the California College of the Arts in Oakland and San Francisco. Her work is mixed media, though she is at her core a painter. She incorporates photography, both her own and found, as well as a rich palette of papers, textures, inks, and adhesives to create rich, multi-dimensional worlds.
My artistic practice involves various investigations into my surrounding landscape/environment in order to re-visualise an experience of my own, and represent an experience for the viewer.
Combining my interests of museology, science, and the surroundings I find myself in, whether that’s where I walk everyday or places I visit for the first time, I investigate the re-representation of things that are very familiar to me, along with surroundings that are still very unknown.
