Born in 1989 and currently living in south of France after a master degree in Fine Arts from "École Supérieure d'Art d'Avignon" in 2014,
Nishe is a French visual artist whose textual and visual polysemic creations revolve around different concepts, processes and themes :
Text/image duality, interpretation, perception, deciphering, questioning, context and temporality.
For this project, I choose to highlight Equality by submitting 3 portraits of women and 3 portraits of men who all choose to fight for freedom and human rights, in their own domains and jobs.
They all shaped and strongly marked our human history with their powerful acts, expressing a sense of freedom in Arts, Education, Music, Philosophy, Free speech, Civil rights ...
In their "battles", there's no "winner" or "superiority". They're all together on the same line of Venus vs. Mars AGAINST things which should change.
Those portraits are made with hand carved rubber stamps which represents one word stamped many times until the multiple layers forms a face.
First portrait is Odetta Holmes, stamped with the word "INSPIRE", second one is Edward Snowden using a "REVOLT" stamp, third one is Ella Fitzgerald with a "TIMELESS" stamp, fourth one is Ai Weiwei with "FREEDOM", fifth is Malala Yousafzai with "LEARNING" and finally Martin Luther King with "DREAM".
