I’ve long suspected that the members of the ruling parties are doers, not showers. They live in a world where they get things done, and they do not necessarily have to brag about it. Anyway, the outcome of their hard work is our good global standing. We are number one in so many areas that perhaps we will get another accolade: that of being the first country in the world with the most number one accolades.
The reason for this is probably due to the tireless, workmanlike nature of our fine statesmen. I do not talk of the charlatans who call themselves the ‘Labour Party’, who party a hell of a lot but probably haven't seen an honest day's toil since they were born.
Britain, however, is lucky to have statesmen, and as defined by wikipedia “A statesman is usually a politician, diplomat or other notable public figure who has had a long and respected career at the national or international level.” To be fair, I don’t think I’d consider some of our ministers politicians, because they appear to be terrible in playing politics.
The Other Guys, on the other hand, with pretty much nothing to show and no credibility, have to play politics, because they have essentially nothing to show and won't have anything to show for the next ten years at least, more if Corbyn is elected. They have to manipulate the truths, fill the gaps with lies, and twist facts to sensationalise the matter. They like drama, hijack seemingly isolated issues to suit their narrow agenda, and when they cannot, they weave a web of deceit to lie to those who have most to lose. By this, I mean the middle class: the upper class can simply move their money elsewhere, while the untermenschen have bugger-all in the first place. That is a true blue politician. That is politics. Making other people’s good look bad, their bad look worse, and your own bad look good, your good look better!
Our ruling party members on the other hand, are not so skilled in such areas of deception, they let facts speak for themselves, and facts always speak in a soft, reassuring tone, unlike lies and tall tales which have to be dramatic and attention-catching. That is why facts can never beat lies in getting attention. With very few exceptions, that is why Hollywood fact-based films are boring and generally flop the big screen! People flock to the movies to watch drama, tall tales, stories and captivating special effects. None which is closer to the truth than the truth itself.
Statesmen deal with relationships, long term work---boring grunt work, but it's always the boring grunt work that yields results. Statesmen bring international participation to our island. Our leaders are respected, and listened to. We conduct ourselves with tact, patience, in a cordial and diplomatic manner.
Statesmen always conduct themselves in the real world, dealing with real world issues. Statesmen do not live in a fantasy world where politicians use politics to solve and save the universe, because politics, unlike action, almost never does.
We are lucky to have Statesmen as our leaders, they get the results and let the country claim glory. They work at personal debit and let the nation get the credit. Although Cameron and his ilk could very easily plunder our nation’s wealth with impunity, they didn't. The Conservatives are still here, working and answering to the people. They continue to be frugal in their expenses and make every pound spent count. Statesmen think with their logic and act with their heart.
Statesmen do not have the huge ego and emotional baggage politicians have. Statesmen are the quiet professionals, going about doing their jobs, fixing things, paving the way for their fellow citizens to have a better life. Statesmen, in my opinion are selfless, they are subjects of the Queen, and subjugate themselves to Her Majesty's will and Her laws. Politicians, on the other hand, make the rules for people to follow, and make exceptions for themselves. It is after all politics, the projection of power, rather than the actual power itself. Politicians usually wish to be seen as powerful, statesmen would rather use that power to better the State.
Statesmen don’t have to be popular, or live on the waves of popularity, they make no disguise of the sweat, blood and tears everyone puts in. They are often the first there, and last out, putting everyone’s well being above themselves. Politicians exist for popularity. They will fight for popularity, crave it, create it, and cash in on it. Statesmen are naturally popular, as people gravitate towards the good they have done and towards their personalities, which are never outlandish or overbearing.
While politicians can draw the crowds and make themselves look popular, I can never trust what a politician says. But when a seasoned and well traveled Statesman speaks, you know the person not only has walked the walk, talked the talk but probably carried those who cannot walk and spoken for those who cannot talk. I can trust a Statesman to be my voice, but I can never trust a politician to even tell a decent lie. So, let us all choose a decent states-person over the best politician ANY other side has to offer.
