These three works are covering in part the resist theme from three different points of view.
Iconostais of Capitalism (watercolor and acrylic on paper, 70x90cm, 2008) is the work which depicts modern-day capitalism as the one true winner from the "wars of ideology" of 20th century, which i also depicted through works Iconostasis of Communism and Iconostasis of Nazism. As such, the different negative aspects of Capitalism, even though it won as the superior "ideology without ideology, postmodern all-is-relative narrative" and is now a prevailing global system, is depicted, with a hope that by exposing the negative self-destructive tendencies inherent in current neo-liberal exploitative social-economical system it can inspire positive change and societal transformation. As such, this work is a sort of "black mirror", which amplifies imperfections and flaws in system, making them easier to identify and fight against.
Surveillance drawing (watercolor and acrylic gouache on paper, 56x76cm, 2016) depicts the Politician character- prevalent in my works- being chased by swarm of hacker-activists inspired by anonymous and 99% movement, using Guy Fawkes mask which became a modern-day symbol of resistance in liberal social circles. As such, it represent the resistance toward control of information, with internet selected as the most important repository of relevant pieces of information which powerful people want to control and own, monetize it and control its dissemination.
Rent-a-coup depicts (acrylic on panel canvas, 40x50cm, 2014) depicts how legitimate resistance can be manipulated and orchestrated by the powerful people, represented by Politican character, and how it can become uncontrolled and violent, with normal people- represented as crash-test dummies- becoming radicalized to the point of military and insurgency actions.
