I meant for these 3 posts to go up at once for the @wetransfer @notforprint #resist entry, but apparently it's more characters than the ello app allows.
So I guess they'll have to go up one at a time, even though I know it will disqualify me from being considered for the issue, but oh well. C'est la vie
I admit I was one those individuals finding themselves with a sudden political interest because of recent events. I never cared for politics before because it seemed like no matter who I would've voted for, many issues were typically ignored.
I.e: the rich always got richer, the poor poorer, violence & drugs ran rampant, the homeless remained homeless, etc etc.
So, when our current potus was elected, with his obvious lack of wit, skill, charm, experience & his even more obvious self-interested, fear-mongering, xenophobic & overall ignorant views & agenda, I couldn't help but to think, 'What the fuck? Why? Who!? Really? Who the fuck would vote for him?'
Well, heartbreaking as it is for me to admit, people I actually know & used to respect apparently voted for him. Why? Honestly I have yet to ask. I truly dread to hear one of those absurdly paranoid conspiracy theory type answers that some of 45's supporters have given as to why they voted for him.
In any case, when you have a man (men, really) that are systematically attempting to destroy everything honorable that this nation was initially built on & what some of its citizens still pride themselves on, well how could I not care? How can I not get involved now?
Initially feeling guilty because I wasn't involved from the start, I've come to realize that it is never too late to get involved, never too late to take action, never too late to resist.
So I began to take action: signing petitions, calling representatives, & planning on more such as taking part in marches, donating & so on. But since I've always been the creative type, I wanted to not just take part in someone else's idea, but come up with one myself. So I came up with a word: Zenomnist.
It combines two words: Xenophile, defined as an individual who is attracted to foreign peoples, manners or cultures, & Omnist, or Omnism, meaning to recognize & respect all religions.
Lastly, I decided to begin the word with the phonetic 'z' as I am somewhat of a Japanese buff.
Henceforth, since I am the apparent creator of this word, I give it the definition: an individual with a great curiosity towards cultures & religions other than their own.
I had this instantaneous & ambitious vision in my head upon inventing the word that it would start a movement, that a group of like-minded people would take to the idea, to represent for them the polar opposite of the mentalities of neo-nazis, or the 'alt-right' as they prefer to label themselves, as well as 45 & all the blatantly bigoted, incompetent, xenophobic & self serving administration (puppeteers as I prefer to label them) that he's surrounded himself with.
I am a writer & therefore a dreamer, so explains my romantic prospects for the word, but indulge me a little, as it is ideas we need to keep in this battle. Ideas & actions, of course.
& so the first of hopefully many ideas I contribute to the cause, that we in the resistance may stay strong & fight on
