Do the protesters need any arguments and slogans at all? Any arguments apart from their disagreement and objection? Maybe it is not so important what message do they have, but rather to who they direct it. I was on all kinds of manifestations: from ecological activists piquet and march for equal rights, through workers union demonstration, anniversary of Polish president’s deadly plane crash in Smoleńsk, Russia, down to nationalist marches on the Polish independence day. Sometimes I erased text from their banners because I was too scared to look at them. Another time, to check if a demonstration as such – as a medium – might be the message. To show how protesters are seen by the authorities or because of pure spite. I only hope you cannot tell the difference at first sight.
