Why There Are Still No Personal Jet Packs.
Notty Bumbo, 2018
Until quite recently the Universe
Was dark, had little time to spare,
Air wasn’t an option,
No wholesale adoption of volatile
Lifestyles, and the trials
Seemed endless in the harshest courts,
No sports to speak of,
How could we have been expected to compete,
In such amorphous heat measured in Kelvins,
Against lifeforms replete with bells
In belfries light-years high,
Enough, one should think to cause a sigh
Later to be determined nothing more
Than background belches
After a heavy meal of black holes,
No toes yet to climb,
But we were on our way,
And while it would take a while to find,
We would one day rise to greater heights.
Once, that is, we discovered the gravity
Of such a hopeless situation.
